1901 Walking Liberty Dollar

TARIGARISTOGATO

turn on the TV and see who I identified as Enrique Tarigo. I think it's one of many "summaries of the year" and I'm seeing the tributes to the plebiscite of 80. But no talk about football.
is Luis Garisto, the flamboyant coach of Peñarol. So I decide to make an exchange of work and try a "separate at birth ", as Leo must walk sweating in The Magic Lantern.

The Difference Between Prolapse And Polyp In Dogs

Autosuggestion

Where I read that the difference between computers and human brains was that the more information the first accumulate work more slowly and the second upside down? will undergo hypnosis to remember. The truth is: you want to read almost anything on the blogs. And that's fine, I like. But at the time of writing, each Again I give way to effect Bartleby "would prefer not to."

what you think exposure level that is right? What individual mapping for leisure from eavesdroppers? How many ideas available?

Uh, well, it is well made so crudely. Last we all took advantage of the availability of the free flow of information, skipping merrily copyright. But my ideas? How small they are? "Those that can turn against me? Are these still then I have to defend to the hilt? "Those who open the doors of my tastes, my beliefs and opinions? Do those who provide a free map of tastes, activities and even a map translatable into lines on a specific geography? Puff, then walk carefully.

Well, it was serious. Is that at the last moment it occurred to me that what Carson McCullers wrote about what I can change for paper money and all this was the argument of myself for not posting materialistic. What compelling.

Is Black Pudding Protein

QUANDOQUE DORMITAT BONUS Homerus

The following is the transcript of the review of Homero Alsina Thevenet the film "A Hard Day's Night" by Richard Lester, published in the newspaper El Pais in 1964. Go for our joint tribute to Lennon and HAT, decemberistas in death and most especially to the "Mondo Cane" in El País Cultural.

Perhaps this post is not about waiting HAT Hi way, but between hagiography so I preferred to remember that critical deserving to infallible and sharp eye for the flaws and omissions, as the great Greek poet, also dozed from time to time.

The four stooges

The Beatles are a bit better than the Old Wave suspected it to be recommending some mindedness to appreciate what they do. They are, of course, four long-haired extravagant, which are believed most important and entertaining, they develop a sense of humor worthy of the Three Stooges and have focused, inexcusably, accession hysterical and shouted to thousands of young girls teens, one of those cases of sublimated sexual impulse that became clearer after Freud. But they are also born four musicians who invent their own songs, interpreted variously with their voices, their guitars, harmonicas, drums and melodic invention, but show little direct and communicative sense of harmony and rhythm. Why both the little girl rave is something that has not been well explained, but it is expected that a joint study of contemporary adolescence, with support of James Dean, Elvis Presley and Palito Ortega, duly completed to include the Beatles. Disown them because they look cute and yet they are adored, would hide the problem.

There is no single argument in the film, which is only a journey of four train to a city where they will play a TV show. There are many setbacks along the way, one of four deviates wildly from the group, after several adventures the program are met on time, between little girl raving. The worst part of the film is the humor which these four lunatics shooting each other, in a spirit of slapstick and circus, with occasional pretense of wit ("And your hair is your name" - "Arthur") and an elementary approach will only laugh at the simplest. But instead there are many songs, sometimes facing the camera and sometimes as a background on the run, and with them the Beatles are in what they do best. Someday descrubrirá that these musicians would be some losers if they did all the additional noise and extravagant hairstyles.

The most positive part of this juvenile film camera work and layout. From a quick start, in which subjects are down the street pursued by a howling mob, to its final performance on stage, to a teenage audience raving with ecstasy, the Beatles are collected without apronte and quickly, in an impost quasi-documentary, with an agility no one would expect found in an account dedicated to four divas who sing. post traumatic stress

While still writing this on December 8. And for many, the December 8th is the day of the beaches but the day he killed John Lennon.
Well, I was 12 and, like many, I can describe exactly where it was, what he did, what I thought. Like when I heard about Cobain. Or when Strummer died. Or when Joey Ramone ... or the day of the WTC attack. Luckily he stretched forth Kennedy, Morrison, Joplin and Hendrix. While

impresses me now do 25 years from that day my cousin told me 9 years Point Blank "They killed John Lennon", the purpose of this mini post is to say that what impresses me most is not remembering anything of December 7 or December 9 or almost any other day of 1980. Not a single moment.

Get a life, Ghetto.

Wedding Slideshow Introduction

Well, well, well, well ....

Ah, yes, what is good about blogging is the immediacy. That can be updated instantly. We will not expect journalists to get out of bed to deliver the news. It's nice not having a boss to tell you what, how and when to write. Here are the bloggers, the seventh power. Free as the wind never write.

However, and now I have to work, I am obliged to, not a boss but two or three or four (the problems of multiple jobs), I decided to take the ostracism to this blog. A whole month without opening the bill and when you open it: cuaaaac, the smallest return of history.

Because what makes me get down to the keyboard is the newsletter of literary news agency. It is rare that something exists and where it could exist only in Miami and who could carry on but a Latino. And in the salad without interest are usually those "literary news" I find that today's newsletter includes three stories that talk to each other involuntarily

LITERARY NEWS No. 1 .- The writer Marcela Serrano open a clothing house in Santiago de Chile.

The notice states that "the Chilean writer begins a new stage in your life with an office away completely from the literature (...) The store, which also sold works of art, design and fitting, will at its center the costumes, including a women's clothing line designed by the writer. " However

: how to say, a priori, that the costumes designed by the writer not closer to the literature books? Marcela Serrano definitely has a fashion designer name. And I believe in the magic power of the names I am convinced that their designs will be closer to being an object aesthetically beautiful, and therefore closer to the literature books.

LITERARY NEWS N º 2 .- The story and the novel experience crises of quality: Seymour Menton.

Menton refers to the Latin American narrative. Struck me in passing Menton's statement that "some stories of Quiroga, Borges, Onetti, Rulfo and Cortázar would be difficult to overcome, even for novels." I agree, and I immediately say, two Argentines, two Uruguayan and Mexican and still Felisberto Hernández

lack While I'm far from being able to say anything about the health of the contemporary Latin American narrative, I will find the anthology "The English-American story," prepared by Menton and now in its 7th. revised and enlarged edition, although I have the 2 nd. I look at the index. Felisbertoless, Bioyless, Ocampoless. It's nothing, an anthologist anthology at will. And in passing through my mind what Bolaño?. Well, maybe I have included in previous editions, and rightly stresses Bolaño not just as a storyteller, but then I read another story, but old, who was saved out there and that has to do with the quality crisis narrative recent Latin American:

"If I did not include authors born in the sixties (in the 7 th edition of the anthology), not on purpose. Just not really outstanding stories found in this group." However, the critic born in 1927 in New York said that does not mean out of sympathy with young writers. "To verify that sympathize with the young, provided that deserve my attention, several conferences this year, I noted the great achievements of 'In Search of Klingsor", by Jorge Volpi (1968) "

Uh, Seymour vs. Sigmur. Celebrity Deathmatch.

LITERARY NEWS N º 3 - Declared wilderness first prize Tusquets Editores de Novela

This news gives reason to Menton. And there's nothing that I love more than a jury award desert states. And in its first edition! I seem to see those responsible for organizing the competition, wondering, what notice Sprite "What we will have wrong?"

Some may seem silly but it takes a brave jury to order desert a contest in which 785 were presented not only Latin American novels, a publishing contest as Tusquets and is released under the Guadalajara Book Fair. If the prize Alfaguara de Novela had done the same, we had saved bummer ilevantables as the novels of Manuel Vicent and Clara Sanchez. Moreover, here in Montevideo, judges have been honored to void and insisted that certain contests and have met with strong opposition from the rest of the jury, with the excuse that it is a crime not to award the prize, here in Uruguay , where prizes are scarce and the money that a mediocre writer can spend in becoming a writer even worse, lost forever in the coffers of the government or is intended to clean the pipes of the SBI.

And speaking of awards: novaleventar declared winner of "Arrow" to the Faculty of Chemistry, which took nearly a week to perform the analysis brown water that comes out of your tap, ma'am, sir, and give his diagnosis that the water was not potable according to quality standards SBI. Water that any idiot with the naked eye could determine who had considerable wealth oxide residues (and also has aluminum and manganese) was declared at all times safe to drink. I forgot to say that the fund was mineral water. The Uruguayans are of iron.

And finally, idle question: The order of these stories should not be exactly the opposite? Do you even a 2-3-1? I know, is negligible. But it is tiring. Not for nothing that breaks the camel is a drop, not a bully jet. One day the guard has the bad idea of \u200b\u200bspending a stop and grab an ax and kill all poultry in the block. Or, to calm your nerves, you put a laundromat, internet cafe and spent many days pondering whether to call or CleanWindows Bra & Brainwash or Wash-o-Matic or LaveClick or Pumpass. And then think who the hell cares. Then grab a bigger ax or perhaps could be ... orange juice concentrate and gasoline ... or maybe ...

That's it. I will continue contrahibernando. Summer makes it bad for my snowy skin. I am a bipolar bear. Do not comment much.

Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro Doujinshi Online

watching TV

Diego Maradona: As I am now a man of television I have to ask a court. But then we go to what you want to do me (singing, Malpensa)
Rafaella Carrà: As you say, Commander.
DM: there is only one Commander

comes the cut. A stencil.

to victory, Drexler.
Latin Grammys.

umpf, umpf, umpf. Much

or shortly after, I can not say, but at 10, SAID AND DONE I fish in a frank discussion of national journalism, at least more open than I've heard lately. Should look carefully to account for things "terribly NOVEL" (although such time it on TV) that were said, not to mention the opportunity to hear the Director say that reading the Underline Gap because he believed in the honesty of its journalists beyond their point of view, the risks of specific micro-environment (Marcelo Pereira, Gap) to the assumption by Pereira (who at one point called Gabriel Sotelo) that journalists were lus Gap independent unique pressures because "Gap has no owner."

There were many pearls. Among those who hunted:

Gerando Sotelo: The white and red creeen that there is a plot of press because we are all left as people accuse us of being right-wing journalists and plotting against the government.

Bonus Track:

staff Journalist Said and Done, whose name I do not know: If I said half of what this man said, I throw (an interviewee on the street who said that the audience knows that there are vested interests and that the info was always smitten)

Gerardo Sotelo: From here, sure.

All this is coupled with two so horrible life circumstances unrelated living: the translation of a documentary by Canadian journalist Martin Himel on the "myth of the slaughter of Jenin" built by the English media and was labeled variously as "the truth about events in Jenin "or a" stinking piece of Israeli propaganda "and reading the latest Tom Wolfe novel" I Am Charlotte Simmons "as we know, a journalist who rose to literary status in the U.S. in the twentieth century and who far in his latest novel portrays life in the elite American university campus.

Augh,, journalism. Oh, journalism.

Yaz Emergency Contraceptive

culture and people

few days ago we received an email at the movies that lists the date and time of meetings for areas that the government plan called Frente Cultural Assembly. Only I had a look, but that was enough glance to see two things: that the first area to present their concerns was "Carnival" (by which I rejected immediately the alphabetical order of the agenda, as it then came AUDIOVISUAL or visual arts) and the absence of an area LETTERS.

Then, an old issue of Film Review emerged from the shelves of the library and suddenly current again. Is the number of September 1981, which contains an article on the death of Brazilian filmmaker Glauber Rocha. A box entitled "Populism only communicates illiteracy," quotes Glauber in 1968, referring to movies and Brazil, but uh ...

The Cinema Novo, rejecting film Imitation and choosing another form of expression, has also rejected the easy way out of that other typical language of nationalist art called the 'populism', reflecting a typically our political attitude. As the leader, the artist feels father's people, the watchword is' speak with simplicity so that people understand. "
In my opinion, is a lack of respect towards the public, with all that it can be underdeveloped, 'making things simple for simple people. " The town is not simple. Even when sick, hungry and illiterate, the people are complex. The paternalistic artist idealizes the subjects popular types fantastic that even in poverty have philosophy, and poor ones have only the need to form a little 'political consciousness', to enable them to overnight to reverse the historical process.
The primitiveness of this concept is even more harmful than the art of imitation, because the art of imitation has at least the courage of knowing this and justifies the 'industry of artistic taste' with profit objectives.
populist art, however, tries to justify his primitivism with a 'good conscience'. The populist artist always says: 'I'm not an intellectual, I'm with the people, my art is beautiful because it communicates', etc. But what connects? Generally communicates the alienation of the people themselves. It communicates to people their illiteracy, their very ordinariness, born of poverty that leads him to consider life with contempt.

But as everyone knows, Glauber was completely crazy. He died at 42 years and many obituary said he had "died in Brazil." "He was killed by Brazilian mediocrity, lack of vision, lack of greatness of this country" (Arnaldo Jabor). "I feel it was too good for a country to take advantage of it, the Brazilians should be aware of this tragedy, the most serious in terms of culture, died because he was unable to live with the misery of the world and the country" (Cacá Diego). "Glauber somatization to Brazil, and died of a clinical disease similar to Brazil" (Ana Ma Magalhaes).

Luckily in Uruguay there is nobody left who can murder. Or maybe he did.

Is It Illegal For Me To Buy Xanax Online

Borges Brand New

Until today I thought I had read about all that Borges would answer in interviews. But leafing through an old magazine from 1991, published on the occasion of the 15 th anniversary of the English newspaper Diario 16 and in reproducing the best articles in the supplement 'Cultures' (and while I notice that the design of the Country Cultural is suspiciously similar to Cultures and that its name is exactly the same as that of the late charge of The Observer), I find an interview with Jorge Luis Borges published in 1985. The interview is more or less the same as always, until he came to these two questions, which surprised me enough to reproduce here:

-You seem to be hostile to any state protective intervention in the arts.

is that I have received so many official awards ... Well, I do not know to what extent state intervention can be accepted. Right now in Buenos Aires, there are countless pornographic publications, magazines displayed with a photograph of ass in this or that actress and her name down. And that is sold. At the same time, you think: "Well, what better than that is spent? People get tired." It does not prevent it striking that those who are occupying positions in Buenos Aires dedicated to that. For example, a man named Pacho O'Donnell. If Fred did sign already a little suspicious right? He says: "The Indians, our ancestors ..." But how? If I am called O'Donnell, my ancestors will be druids, but not Indians. Well, this man has written a book called "Seduction of the daughter of the keeper." And I tell you that seduction is in charge of ... a lesbian, so that the content is even more serious than the title. And another man, Gorostiza, has a piece of theater is the defense of our pimp. Our culture, therefore, is in the hands of those very radicals.

you -translated Henri Michaux. As he would you have tempted other drugs?

I failed with cocaine and marijuana. I made several experiments honest, five or six. And with cocaine, yeah, I was garrulous, very nervous. With marijuana, however, I felt absolutely nothing. Now, I was about to be drunk. Every Saturday we went Francisco Luis Bernardez and I to visit the suburbs of Buenos Aires. Then, as there was not much to do, we walked into the store, so we asked, para ser criollos, una caña brasilera, un guindado oriental o lo que fuera.

I know that in Spain the word "ass" is as normal, but I found it very strange in the context of this interview, not to imagine how strange it must be said: "Borges, do not sleep the joint is turned off ".
I do not understand is how Borges could see the ass of the actresses in the magazines being nearly blind. Which leads me to assume the following dialogue: "Tell me

Mary, what magazines published today in their covers? -Butt
actresses, Borges. With just under a corresponding credit.

Cinema Online M Jak Milosc 829

Guilty by suspicion
(Warning: mixed autobiographical post)

Being about to start a short vacation, I am dam Pheidippides effect, an effect that should be recognized by physicians and social security.
Athenian messenger Pheidippides was that he ran 150 kms. for help to the Spartans before the impending battle between Greeks and Persians would happen in Marathon. After the battle ran another 42 kms. to Athens to announce victory. After fulfilling his mission, to finally rest ... forever. The story is probably one of the many Greek myths is of little importance as I, like many others, I am easy prey Pheidippides effect: while I am working I am in perfect state, but as the holidays start, I get sick. Strictly my holidays have not begun, but before its imminent and I am sneezing and coughing incessantly like a flooded engine.

This reminds me that during the first week of my vacation earlier suffered all kinds of ailments and even small encounters with nature. And since then I have the conviction that only by achieving something similar concentration to the physical. This concentration should be mainly visual and, preferably, linguistics: a written page or computer screen produce the miracle of health. I have even found that in my case, the headache is good for work because such is the concentration needed to overcome the pain threshold that, once achieved, the results are remarkable: the pain is somewhere and I see it but, above or below, think of it.

this will seem horrible to say, not so much. Beyond those who enjoy watching the endless horizon of ocean, or the vast darkness of the night sky. To me, causing me anxiety and something like an offset that some consider enriching but I feel useless and uninteresting.

Last summer I went on vacation to San Francisco, Maldonado. The house was the last of the block, had two neighbors, nearby. The house was on the side of a hill that was all that was visible from there. Cerro, horses and waders. Very nice everything.

As I said, when I'm calm in those situations, I get anxious. Not that I'm afraid, but the quiet fire my imagination into areas unheard. Something like a calm paranoia, an impotent waste delivered to the odds. I look at the clear sky and imagine an alien spaceship that comes to look, or a massive meteorite whose destination says "Piriápolis and Surrounding Areas" or a burning plane going down, down (and I swear that in previous aircraft rental episode was almost true .) And if outside the sound of a cricket becomes extremely insistent, imagine an invasion angry crickets imminent or single cricket giant has decided to take revenge on a massacre of its kind.

I will say that the improbable of situations imagined child gives me a bonus, except for a severe crack in reality, the imagined is not true. Or I think unconsciously imagining unlikely misfortune away the likely trust. But that is what would a psychoanalyst, whose diagnoses are operational simplifications more complex mental mechanisms.

All this reminds me of a Clint Eastwood movie I watched for a while. I do not know entirely what it was called that movie, but I remember clearly that she talked about the polygraph test. Of a man who despite being convicted agree to submit to the test and not passing, or a man who despite being innocent not pass the test. And I thought I would not in any way. Yo, before a test, I am always guilty even being more innocent than Heidi.

What do you see my last vacation, anxiety during states of rest and Clint E.? Well, during that vacation was, one night, sitting in the back of the house, Remo, after roasting pieces of meat on the grill with some skill. The night was clear and there was a strong and warm north wind. I said that the heat that brought the breeze was the heat of Artigas, Tacuarembó, a second-hand heat, as when one enters a movie theater and the second function is all breathed air, and gone through countless bellows half outside and everything is awful. So I went to the bathroom. When he returned, Remo was sitting very still, his back to me. On the table was the knife I had used for cooking. And I thought, "if while I was in the bathroom, someone came between the acacias and killed him with the knife, nobody on this earth believe it was not me and I expect many years in prison." Remo was alive was a kind and not just because I hope to live many years. However, that did not stop that for days had the certainty that the possibility, however slight, is one of the most powerful forces to which individuals are subjected and to which, are most vulnerable.

When this happens, reassure me thinking that in my case, the probability is a friendly force, as I am not a person or essentially fortunate or unfortunate, and always applies the average. That is, at least in my case, I hope that it becomes possible not probable. And is that one of the few magical beliefs that I have is that the fortune and misfortune, for some individuals, statistics do not apply. This is a religious statement, the statistics go crazy when to fortune and misfortune are concerned. In these cases, the dealer loses.

All this comes about because the possibility, however improbable, is the force that is at the root of the absolute tragedy. The probability should be taken by humans as part of the human avatar. The possibility and the exceptions are much more frightening statistics and the mere existence of the human race is an example too obvious to ignore.

How To Make Gps Phone Cheats Work

War on (human)

disasters hard to summon all of us human. And the hurricane that struck New Orleans has exposed the misery of not only people, but fundamentally government and American media. Unfortunately, this natural disaster has reminded me of a book I hated every minute length of his reading: "Blindness" by José Saramago.

Saramago is, like all utopian communist, a moralist. And his book is a moralistic so unbearable that did furious. I assumed that books like these and could not be written. He assumed that because we all know how men behave in cases of extreme need and what writing a book with few literary virtues and excessive doses of obvious moral. I still think that Saramago's book is crap. But do not stop to recognize that it may be a useful book if someday exterminate these natural disasters to humans (and I am convinced that we humans exterminate a natural phenomenon) and is taken as a history book for any alien who falls in these parts. Do not let high literary virtues of the species, but will give an idea of \u200b\u200bthe usual behavior of man to an alien civilization that can not decode more complex literary works. I would like to have saved the complete works of Shakespeare, but if you lucky to be saved on "Blindness" and "Siddhartha", I prefer the first. And hopefully removing all the history books, which as Batlle know, seem to be written by Argentines.

"This disaster that moves the world "has shown several things: the U.S. government's apathy about their own people, the racism that is endemic in American society, the poverty in which much of the population and (again) the world's attention it arouses such a phenomenon when it happens in the U.S..
As obvious as Saramago's novel, but that still surprises many people (my father, for example, thought that there was little poor people in the U.S. and not yet inefficiency can believe the U.S. government to assist its citizens).

To date the disaster I had earned as much attention as in the past some flooding in India, or un terremoto en Turquía. Puede sonar desalmado, pero lo que verdaderamente me preocupa es que aparezca Alex Chilton.

Real Estate Agent Intorductio Letter

Lo que hago cuando no hago nada

Los selectos lectores de este blog habrán notado la ausencia de posts entre junio y agosto. Los imagino a todos contentísimos suponiendo que ahora sí vale ventar. ¡Pues no!
O más Well, when I have no obligation to translate by translating for pleasure. Bread and bread, rains but it pours, after shock sticks, rice again, yeap.

time ago I started to translate one of Salinger's stories appeared in the New Yorker but has not been published in book form. Which completes the saga of the Glass. The only handwriting written by Seymour (although this assertion is problematic).

The story is Hapworth 16, 1924. You can download it in English here. (As this link works somewhat erratically and then try to find a nice free webhosting, I opted for the easiest solution: blogger. It is not easy but at least works )

The preliminary warning is that Hapworth is a story just for fans of Salinger.
Any reader who is unfamiliar with the Glass family will find not only incomprehensible but unfriendly, poorly written, pretentious, false and even ridiculous. Indeed many fans of Salinger think exactly the same. I do not.

At some point I thought to write something about Hapworth. It's almost ridiculous, but at this stage know this better than any other text of Salinger. Clear that the text alone does not deserve that relevant, but I've come to understand things I can not explain, because I dare to say that not even fully in the text. I also know that there are many parts that must be translated into a slight or even mistakenly. I can not fix a conscience, because it translates back and then conclude by leaving it in original language. Fall in what Borges tale, so this is a map Hapworth translated, not the territory. The pathetic translation we used to have make any errors that may have made at most come to join in the universal history of infamy, but at least I have not taken a good sum for not making them.

is impossible for me to reconstruct the various levels of sympathy and antipathy Hapworth has caused me. I believe this to translate has given me a clear sign of the ease with which one approaches a text in a simple reading. If you have translated each book I've reviewed would review each of my legs up. Eventually
have come to love and enjoy Hapworth sling. I think this text is in no way the best of Salinger, but obviously could not be. I also think it would be a very significant act of Salinger if it ever publish a book (from 1997 announcing its publication in Orchid Press and over and over again is delayed now until 2006. I believe that publication date is the one that Salinger thinks he will die).
I have read several reviews Hapworth, I've been salingeritas fan forums and I think no one has understood a lot this story. Almost everyone makes fun of it or refuse to consider it part of the corpus salingeriano, which is terribly stupid. Oh, of course, the only one I understood ME. Well, you may well be that this is the only act of total arrogance to commit in my life, so no longer comical and banal. It is almost honorable and may be a good epitaph: "The only act of pride he made in his life was believed to have been the only one who understood Hapworth 16, 1924."

There are many aspects to a story again Hapworth fundamental. The most important is to supplement the Glass saga, though I suspect JDS has written much about them (some say that Salinger has not stopped writing since she published her last book. You appear to have a huge amount of manuscripts classified colors: what is to burn with a color, to be published posthumously with another, which must be donated to other libraries, and so on).
Another interesting thing about this story is that, except for brief intervention of Buddy's first, is the only one that is written almost entirely by the pen of Seymour. While this aspect is important is not to the extent that critics have pointed JDS. Back in 'Seymour, an introduction' Buddy Seymour reproduced letters and 'Lift, carpenters' There are long passages from his diary. There is great consistency between Seymour Hapworth the letter and the other examples of your writing and while Hapworth, Seymour expands on the theme of the embodiments, this theme is also present in other of his letters. What just might be new is that Hapworth, Seymour reveals not only a child can see the past and the future but realize their visions. But in truth, the visionary Seymour has already been discussed before: see, if not all of the first part of "Raise ..."

I do not want to spoil the reading talking too much about the story. And you read it, but from my point of view, one of the most beautiful is when Hapworth Seymour referred to his vision of Buddy writing a story in the future and their hopes for the approach of the narrative. In fact, it is this vision that leads to transcribe Buddy Seymour's letter to us. And I can not resist the temptation to say that the episode of the rabbit at the end of the letter made me laugh to tears. Do not know what I mean? Well stop right here reading this post and go to dive into Hapworth.

Salinger has been achieved with a rather small and work extremely limited what other talented writers has led them to having to build an entire world. Stop a minute to Tolkien. Not for me to diminish the obvious talent behind his work but will work! He invented things, worlds, alphabets, languages! He has written thousands of pages to provide a framework for the fight between good and evil! However, Salinger has created an equally or more fascinating universe in a grain of sand, has put the universe at the top of a salt shaker. And indeed, Hapworth are more than 25,000 words open up a world of possibilities. Each piece in the series changes all this, even stories that do not refer to Glass. I know that from now reread all Salinger and in that sense I say that the story is just for fans. But back to Hapworth ...

There is a critical, petty, which has been made regarding Hapworth Salinger. It has been said that the whole saga of the Glass is an attempt to mystify Buddy and his brother Hapworth is the result of complacency and Machiavellian Salinger, considered as the real person behind Buddy Glass, and Seymour not does nothing but praise for his younger brother and also because writing Hapworth Seymour in the distance too the myth built by Buddy. According to these critics Hapworth reading should be: "All credit goes to Buddy" or "Buddy is the real genius." However I think it is Hapworth becomes plausible story that Seymour and Buddy is a gesture aimed at his brother put in perspective. That's why this story can not be one of the best in Salinger: is a letter from a child without the intervention of Buddy as a storyteller. The relevance of the story is not on your bill and literary critic or the reader will not see this should not understand anything. Criticism is fun (in the sense of distraction) discussing whether Buddy is the alter-ego of Salinger and, as you well know, this is an absolutely irrelevant. Best would make a stop in analyzing the great sense of humor Salinger to publish this letter to Seymour. It is, in all cases, the Seymour most immediate and most poignant, at times almost ridiculous. Seymour's prose is pretentious, yes it is, but uh, right! Is it that they are all blind? There's nothing funnier that Seymour, or more tragic, or more tender, no more problematic. It is in this letter where Seymour is terribly human, more fully divine. Seymour is in every sense of the vehicle, equally shaken by the passions and visions.

Here I go back to that saying that this text is not one of the best of Salinger. I would say it is very difficult to establish because it would have to completely redefine the literature as such. Perhaps Hapworth excellence is in the Salinger will be less good in order to complete the portrait of a character. No longer a gift and an act of literary masters be less teacher when the text demands. In that sense, Hapworth masterfully fulfills its purpose. The result is not palatable to the common readers is understandable because this story is dedicated to those who are willing to see literature not only as a text. Or remove the pleasure of the text of the altar of the saga. It is not literature, is practically metaliterature.

OK, all this would make me expelled from the Faculty of Humanities (not required, and pressed the autoeject). I hope you will forgive me when I say that is almost metaliterature Hapworth or no intervention of a narrator and is obviously not metaliterature and if there is a narrator or two may be the subject of endless discussions. That's what I mean when I say it is difficult to judge the literary quality of Hapworth or must be judged taking into account the different levels that move the categories of author and narrator and there is even a third category, which is that of writer. And if all this were not enough, the story has its little mysteries that my limited understanding could not figure out and maybe you can. For example, the name of the story. Why Hapworth 16, 1924? Ah, I can not bear to think that perhaps the meaning is crystal clear and I am simply in the dark (Tom Lantern help me!). OK, Hapworth is the place, maybe it's 16 days and 1924 is undoubtedly the year. But what month? Is it wrong to Seymour due to the structure of the header of your letter?. Another interesting aspect has to do with the vision of Seymour about his death or for Buddy since he said that one of the two will be present at the death of another. We know that Buddy was not in the suicide of Seymour. Is it wrong vision of Seymour? Or is this somehow Seymour when Buddy die? Okay, no answers, but I can not stop thinking about these issues ... And we can still discuss what Buddy says "Lift up ...", that Seymour committed suicide in" A Perfect Day ... " is much closer to Buddy than Seymour or even discuss if, when Buddy said that readers of the novel only published tell you that the protagonist has a lot of Seymour-less readers who have actually met Seymour, is valid to assume you're talking about Holden Caulfield. Go to the genius of JD Salinger! Take off your hat, JRR Tolkien!

Emu Bronte Or Emu Stinger

When neither death equals

Interestingly, the missing were more equal when they ruled who do not draw the ethical superiority of its ideology of equality among men.
the manner of class genocide, there are missing class A.
Let the dead bury the dead.

Today I did a survey on the government. I asked

a) Do you think the government is fulfilling its promises?
b) Do you think this government is like the previous?
c) Do you think this government is worse than previous ones?

not know what to say. I believe this government is unreadable because it reads wrong. Even can not distinguish between fiction and reality. Cree Seagal's film is true, in the same way he thinks is true that is bringing some justice for the disappeared, when in fact, is perpetrating the worst injustices. Much more unfair to leave all the same on earth. Or all missing and all wanted. Will there ever a victim of human injustice renounce individual justice for the sake of education ethics of all mankind? I think that's the plot of a historical novel, somewhat cubist in its structure, called the New Testament. But you can not be chosen if the difference is not accepted. We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

While this government is to write, I will be illiterate. Include me out.

Woolite By Zero Used In He?

Tyrants Tremble

Please forgive me, dear sir, but I'm tough and honest temperament, so that from the beginning you will make this clarification: Do not be fooled, this text is far from a mere plagiarism. By contrast (and will soon warn you), it is an epistle brief, somewhat strange, that perhaps it might be a lesson for not only myself but many mighty souls. First of all, I hasten to introduce myself, to have you in mind, while reading, my visual image, as if it were a picture watermark, which is far more honest than foster, through silence, often erroneous conclusions removed inadvertently type of writing that has in the eyes. No, despite my bold pen and arbitrariness of my commas, I am a mature and strong, clear that there is a strong stout, is tasteless, cunning and temper. Is very far, sir, the bulk of Gertrude Stein, writer so hated by the Knights. But enough. You, as a writer, and together with the data sufficient to complete, on your own, my portrait. Bonjour, Monsieur. And go on with it.

bought few days ago in a used bookstore (which an illiterate target reduced to a dreary street in Montevideo) three or four old books, including his short story collection "The tyrannicide." Cute title at least, if for no other reason, because its original title in English ("Tyrants Destroyed") very similar to a famous verse of the anthem of my country which is worth serving. So cute title was precisely what sparked my interest. On the other hand, I keep generally, certain prejudices against collections of stories are collected in the peace of a golden exile in places such as Montreux and Vienna. But I bought it, as I said, your book.

Ah, my dear sir, ah, Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich, how easy it is to guess that the author is hiding under a pseudonym, the author is not an ordinary man, but the time-space traveler Tichy Ijon ! Every sentence you write is buttoned at infinity. The preference that you demonstrate by words such as "time spent" or "when the gods used to take earthly forms," \u200b\u200breplacement the restrictions introduced to sex education in school curricula for the teaching of "Gypsy fight," the aversion to snuff by the leader, who cleverly subverts a disproportionate taste the cucumber in his time waiters and the recommendation of the laughter as a remedy to overcome their unique thought, fair enough as a sign of his fondness for human and literary satire, and its anachronistic nature. But that is only the beginning.

Is it necessary to clarify the above? Will you need to tell you, when reading his work, so agile, so atrocious, I suffered a sense of déjà vu ? Tore my index, to open the old pages but not cut, and my eyes just could manage, to travel, to blink, victims of disbelief and amazement.
Will you know what happened? With great pleasure. While you, lying in his hammock with the full weight of his body, let the pages sprout from his pen like a fountain (almost a pun), you wrote, sir, the story of the first months of the current administration of my country (*). Allow me to transcribe, to the astonishment of the readers of this letter, the accurate portrayal diabolically you date, written in France in 1938.

"The point is that as his power grew, I began to realize that the obligations of citizens, the admonitions, restrictions, ordinances, and all forms of pressure that we inflicted, they acquired a close resemblance to the man, revealed a relationship unequivocal traits of character and details of their past, to the point that on the basis of these decrees and injunctions could rebuild his personality, as rebuilt from an octopus-tentacles, that personality that I was one of the few who knew thoroughly. In other words, everything around him gradually took its own look. The law began to show a likeness farcical with his walk and gestures. The deposits of the grocers began storing an excessive amount of cucumbers, vegetable he avidly consumed in their youth. School programs today include gypsy fight that, in rare moments of excitement cold, he used to play with my brother on the floor, twenty-five years. The newspaper articles and novels of writers sycophants have adopted this dry style, this quality lapidary supposedly meaningless, basically because each coin phrase repeated in different key, one and the same truism officer, effective language cum thought infirm, and many other stylistic affectations you are very typical. Soon I felt that he, as I remember, all pervading, infesting their presence mode of thinking, the daily life of each person, so that their mediocrity, their gray habits and tedious, and were the very life of the country. And finally, the law that he imposed, the relentless power of the majority, endless sacrifice to the idol of most sociological-lost all meaning, for most it is . "

Oh, well, I think all this deserves explanation. The first piece is a shame that I made, mutatis mutandis, about the beginning of the excellent story "The tower Admiralty "by Vladimir Nabokov. This story is a letter a reader wrote to the author (or author) of a novel, believing that it is based on the story of his first love." The Tower (or "the spire. .. ") of the Admiralty" is what you have written funnier Nabokov and blame the author of the epistle prefixed to the story full of literary cliches and aristocratic affectations with which the author "distorted" history "real" move in the field of non-reliable narrators and characters somewhat pathetic Nabokov popped in "Pnin".

The second, quoting and without bold intervention on my part, is a fragment of the story "tyrannicide", which name to the collection.
Yesterday I read two stories and one way or another mixed more or less like trying to do here. The emergence of the pastiche Ijon Tichy is just another disgrace useful to my purposes. Bored with my previous post, I decided to write what I thought yesterday while reading, but not before saying yes, it is a shame, a dare and a joke, inspired by the discovery of tyrannicide that laughter is the only response to the power of governments.

(*) I should clarify (oh, sensitive souls) that the comparison is, of course, a tremendous exaggeration. The tyrant of Nabokov's story molding is a dictator halfway between Hitler, Stalin and Lenin, but I could not resist the temptation to play the paragraph above, for indeed my thoughts were hilariously over here and now while reading this paragraph and at the end of the story when tyrannicide discovers that the secret is in the joke.

(not invent it goes Tarariras Herald)

not invent it had access to CT brain Jackie Rodriguez Stratta. The popular film commentator for Channel 10, confessed to the doctor in charge of the review was very satisfied with the results: "There are no doubts that I have a brain exquisite," he said.

Daniel Lucas, jealous of the results obtained by his colleague, undertook an MRI, unable to find in Montevideo scanner of its size. The results were disastrous as they tried to take the exam with an electromagnet because the whole team by MRI had resigned in solidarity with Dr. Leborgne. The content of the brain
Lucas was completely erased but after making three weeks of physiotherapy, the critic of Channel 12 seems to have recovered 90% of normal brain function: "Repeat the words correctly 'Fantastic', 'Notable' and 'spectacular' but the channel marketing managers have asked us if we planted the false memory of being lost brother of George Lucas. We're working on it." "Said the doctor soothingly.

Belladonna Have A Kid

The death of a polemicist

Today, I've been away from newspapers, radios or televisions, as news reaches me: Juan José Saer has died. The first thing I say is "Ailbe going to be sad", perhaps because she was the first reader of Saer I knew and whom he professes great respect for intellectual, while she amuses the impression caused Saer personally.

I do not know in depth the work of JJS. I read some of his essays and I jumped for his novels, but I never managed to stay in it. However, there is something fundamental in JJS, who exercised with violence and passion: the role of polemicist. It is no accident that this same Saer says Borges.

In December 1999, Saer visited Montevideo on the occasion of the publication of his book "The narrative-object" and SR and I went there to interview him. The memory I have of this interview is that it was a near disaster. Saer was angry and impatient and I had the impression that either you were doing the most idiotic questions of the world or he did not know any closest approach to politeness.
I had not read that interview until today and now I find it impossible to combine the commemoration of the interview with what I see written on the paper. The only thing that matches between what I remember and what I read is violence. Perhaps, then, the questions were not the most foolish of the world, but Juan José Saer not believe his role in this world had nothing to do with the kindness and everything to do with his own words and brutally clear. And if the young women journalists are not used, beyond them ...

This is part of what Saer said just over half an hour of interview:

"The problem is: sometimes criticism bad journalism levels, neutralizes bad things. Is a dangerous confusion between what is merely commercial production and real literature. (...) You can not judge on one page of literature, can not be judged as the same thing to Paul Celan's poetry and novels by Paulo Coelho. This critical distinction in the past but have now completely erased the boundaries. Now, the criterion is the numerical superiority of the copies sold, are commercial standards prevailing over those who complete the designs of the literary pages. Thus, a man like that was allowed when Bertelsmann bought Sudamericana, a publisher with a tradition than honorable, that no writer or River Plate of Argentina to sell less than ten or twenty thousand copies would be published by them. An opinion like that deserves, first, the complete disregard of all those dedicated to culture. At the same time, reveals a total ignorance about what was the history of literature in Latin America and the Río de la Plata. Felisberto not exist, Onetti not exist, Borges would not exist. Or Macedonian, or Antonio Di Benedetto, and I could go on indefinitely. "

" When I talk about the current best-Sellerés, I mean the way in which they re willing genres from rechewing resources, resobados. It bothers me that build their texts clearly commercial purposes and also position themselves as artists. To just give an example: the English case that individual without any talent, Mr. Pérez-Reverte. Intended to write adventure stories now cheaper mechanisms adventure novels of the nineteenth century, which at that time had been exceeded with other mechanisms of the genre much more refined. Who writes it then? "

" The genres also spent and that's fine, but if you want to write genre literature, has to be doubly creative, you have to dive into the genre until the end. For example, Stephen King, who writes that seudoliteratura of terror, not only did not invent anything, but it also uses procedures that no author of the genre-and God knows if there will be great masters of horror fiction, like Poe, and Lovecraft-never had lowered to use. Procedures fully apricots, complacent. The great authors of genre work all the time in the margins, and eventually expand its borders, introducing new elements ... Think for example in the novels now, American novels, James Ellroy, for example. Do not come down from the 600 pages. Why have so many pages? Not even he knows. (...) The old goat, as I affectionately call Agatha Christie was so trader like them, but solved the thing in 180 pages. 90% of the time were a mess, but there are six or seven novels that came out very well. "

" Today I've just had a bad moment in a radio, because not only asked me about Onetti and Felisberto, authors Uruguayans those who feel a deep admiration. I had to talk about other writers Uruguayans I will not name now and I had to speak my mind. In the most delicate way possible, but what I think. So, well, I will destroy my reputation, and is very little to destroy ... "

" From what I've seen in a few pages of Andahazi (do not know, I want to ruin anyone's career, but we are far below what literature has to be) a bit of criticism or critical reading could do with this guy "

" was the last English writer Malcolm Lowry, then there there were more writers in England. And the last English writer was Calderon de la Barca, Antonio Machado perhaps. "

Saer said it was not enough to declare an influence, he had to earn it. He also said he was tired of Borges, as he wrote critical essays on his work which indicated that Borges was confrontational rather than critical. That is precisely the thesis of 'Borges as a problem': "Much of his essays, reviews, articles and conferences are true artillery, and sometimes even mere variations of Surrealist act par excellence, consistently, as is known, go out and shoot a gun against crowd. "

Many critics have seen as the innovator of Saer Argentine letters after Borges. If, as I said Saer, genres are broken, it may also degrade the quality of the River Plate writers. Personally, I still can stay in or Saer and perhaps most surprised at his absence or death of Argentina's best debater after Borges. Y much more if I start to think that the best debater Argentina after Saer is Aira.

The Almost Deads

Is not there a band with that name? OK, I think not, and which is formally anointed the band's official blog. His hits include "The Deads Almost Dead" and "Dying all life long," the latter about the life of a hairdresser whose refrain goes "Dying to Dye / Dying all life long / You were wrong / Life is a lie." The Almost Deads is playing now in Lima, Peru-Uruguay match, I hear on the radio as I write.

self-referential writing is not all bad, but no worse than the bad writing self-referential writing. It is like holding a drunk, "Sho eshhtoy not bor-rr-acho.
If a blog starts to realize how painful it may be writing a blog, we're stuck. When he writes a blog starts to rely on Dr. Johnson to justify their laziness, The Almost Deads play harder.

"Only a blockhead writes with no money involved"

The great Dr. Johnson is absolutely right, but there are those who are socks with joy. Or those who have so many ideas that no matter wasting two or three ideas weak fool to change any money and a little fun. Not so Ghetto.

To this is added a handful of convictions about how or what should be a blog:

a) should be updated twice a week promedially
b) should disappear if you spend more than three weeks without updating
c) posts or entries should be allowed capricious, short or even incomprehensible.

I think all the blogs I like to meet these three premises, except mine.

Let's see, I'll do something horrible. I'll make The Almost Deads touch "Diggin 'in the dirt" completely inappropriate song to your style. It is an exercise in self-destruction. You dig in the trash when he wants to survive. Look for food in trash or going to a psychiatrist, which is more or less the same. And for Almost Deads, trying to survive a suicide.

Diggin 'in the dirt is, in this case, dive in my red notebook. Reading the last thing written or copied the following meeting.

Not the snow of flowers,
That the hurrying wild wind whirls round the garden court
:
What withers and falls away
in this place is I myself

Kintsune Fujiwara no

It's beautiful, but why it sounds that is the argument against:

"Just Because you've got bananas in the fridge

Does not mean you've got monkeys in your attic"
?

How can we explain that in a review? Is say: "Not the hailstorm of bananas, That the hurrying wild cold in the fridge freezer: what Withers and falls away in this place Are the monkeys in my attic"

OK, it's funny and almost wrong, but there are always funny that ruins the beauty of Japanese poetry or Amelie Nothomb says:

"ruin our life with the hope that doing so also the ruin of others"

or even funny to ruin your life after death :

"A bus carrying capability only ugly people crashes into an oncoming truck, and everyone inside dies. They Then get to Meet Their Maker, and of the grief Because They Have Experienced; I decide to grant them one wish each, before they enter Paradise. They're all lined up and God asks the first one what the wish is. "I want to be gorgeous," and so God snaps His fingers, and it is done. The second one in line hears this and says, "I want to be gorgeous too." Another snap of His fingers and the wish is granted. This goes on for a while with each one asking to be gorgeous but when God is halfway down the line, the last guy in the line starts laughing. When there are only ten people left, this guy is rolling on the floor, laughing his head off. Finally, God reaches this last guy and asks him what his wish will be. The guy eventually calms down and says: "Make 'em all ugly again".

Acá recuerdo o mejor, tendría remember the book by Will Self "How The Dead Live" (favorite book Almost Deads). But all I can grab a phrase "Crops commiting herbicide" . I know I had a lengthy discussion on whether the sentence was correct or not, but I can not remember the premise of the discussion. Damn grass.

Two unrelated events to explain the abandonment of reviews:

"Prolonged, indiscriminate Involves Constantly Reviewing of books books about inventing reactions Towards Which one has no spontaneous feelings whatever." George Orwell

"A horse is at least HUMAN, for god's sake"

I said to myself, or rather I argue that review is a spin not know where, spinning thoughts that appear isolated, ideas or appointments or authors names or lists of unrelated ideas. Since Nick Hornby published "High Fidelity", ruined the fun hobby of the world. Amazon is known for Listmania! and of course not mediobobo Hornby was the first amateur to them. First, how could it be otherwise, is none other than the Jewish God, dictating that he spent his commandments, sins and all kinds of lists of what could and could not be done.

79 Trans Am Hood Pins

'm lovin' it.

Mc Donald's I love. It's true. Not only do I like the Big Mac and Mc Mc Bacon and Egg, but its premises are an unlimited source of stimuli. I keep pieces of cloths with unbelievable rock lyrics, declarations of loyalty of employees who will run, Disney drawings (such as Atlantis a couple of posts). Examine toys of the Happy Meal in the display, which without exception are more interesting and challenging for boys than for girls: a robot for men, a leather wallet and mirror for the girls, a car that transforms into a clock to them, a set of brooches, necklaces and bracelets for them. Never saw a girl want the boy toy, so I guess McDonald's is right and I'm wrong.

But lately strange things happen at McDonald's. You go there to serve him always the same burger, Platonic ideals, nightingale of Keats and is a guy you have crushed the brain for weeks and have fried in margarine, who ambushed him in the kitchen with a stopwatch and make him recite the ingredients of each of the burgers and you contention that the Big Mac has no cheese. One asks for a Coke with no ice and foam BLOWING employee not to overfill the cup.

few days ago I've been watching the announcement of the new "sandwich" of McDonald's: McCriollo. We announce with a big sign that says BO!
"Bo? "Bo Jackson, Bo Derek? Do not have wanted to VO!? As far as I know, the uruguayísimo VO is "VOS" street, which you have dropped the final "s". I say it sounds like BO and not being a word that has entered the DRAE (unlike the "che", which itself has done) can be written in any way. But that plane would be to ignore the origin of the interjection and empty of meaning.

At this point I am convinced that the revolutionary group the Joda, McDonald's has infiltrated and whether the unemployed will find the month. It was exactly 16 years since I opened "Manuel's book." I went to look, I opened it and jumped a piece of paper, written with my writing from when I was, sniff, 21. Pick up this appointment (and only that) of Cortazar's book:

"Annihilate the notion of effectiveness of the adversary as Gene Tunney said, because while imposing it is he who condemns us to accept his paintings semantic and strategic"

Everything is related. Viva la Joda.

Clomid Ocular Migraine

Among robes and white coats

is undisputed that no one has the right to impose on others a habit injurious to health. However, the initiative to regulate smoking in public spaces President Vázquez and Minister of Public Health, Ma Julia Muñoz, seems to point to something more than health care for the smoke. Vázquez statements that "lung cancer kills three Uruguayans a day," merely reaffirm what it is not so much to bring justice to non-smokers after centuries of subjection to the neighbor's smoke but appeal to smoker's fencing reducing the areas where you can practice so pernicious and reprehensible habit, while closing the door on any aspiration for a serious debate on the legalization of marijuana.

If the measure is intended to protect those who do not want to smoke and are forced to do so, Vazquez should have specified how much is the genocide of non-smokers and not to those who most likely chose to smoke despite being aware that harmed health, to the point of being willing to pay with his life the pleasure of giving a pernicious habit.
Ni Ma Julia Vázquez Muñoz and seem to wonder why these Uruguayans were forced to die of old age. Based on the premise that all human beings are forced to live so be able to stay in this world as long as possible and, based on the questionable idea of \u200b\u200buniversal validity, regulate universal validity. However, neither the State nor science can have input in determining what is appropriate or inappropriate management of life and health of an individual.

The measure goes beyond protecting the health of the healthy and pointing to the enclosure and deterrence of repression from those who refuse the health model that determines the health biologist in terms of length of body as machine, it seems evident when one analyzes the "solution" the problem of wayward smokers: in the case of public places where the individual is not eligible if you attend or not attend, is applied correctly, the ban, while in places where the individual will voluntarily intends to isolate smokers included in an airtight air extractors. The possibility that the owner of a private institution can determine which services are provided and what type of clients runs his proposal and the user to choose which environment is submitted, it is beyond discussion. Is more effective to isolate the "sick" to announce at the door that the place is open to smokers and that the user decides whether to risk his life or not, remaining a hours in an environment polluted by choice.

Apparently, not so much to bring more freedom to the oppressed restrict passive smoking as those who, by pernicious habit, not only cause major medical expenses to the state but who are examples of antisocial behavior, individualistic, anti-economic and even suicidal. However, in the center of the debate on the prohibition (of snuff and other drugs) should prevail an ethical question about the economic: what right does the state protect individuals from harm done to himself themselves? John Stuart Mill, in his essay "On Liberty" argued:

"The only reason for which power can be exercised as of right on any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient reason . This can not be compelled to do or not do will be best for referring him or make him happier, or because, in the opinion of others, to do or not to be wiser, or better. These are good reasons to express disagree with him, or reasoning with him, or to persuade, or to ask him to do or not do, but not to force or threatening to harm if not acting in accordance with these opinions. On his being, on your body and mind, the individual is sovereign "

control the powers trying to exert on the individual's freedom to determine their state of being attached to the church-state on a crusade of domestication has changed the prize offered to those that fit the proposed model. Where the Church offers salvation, the modern state provides health, long life and (conveniently) production.
Or Fernando Savater points in "The content of happiness"

"Just as salvation, health is the goal of human life on Earth, both of which are goods that assumes that the man must pursue, even inadvertently, unless perversion evil of the will or mind (crazy), in both cases there is a body of specialists who are dedicated to concrete ways to achieve them and to condemn any individual heretical initiative, both are ultimately imposed, for the benefit of all, by official institutions designed to prevent and punish the misconduct temptations. Traditional religion, using as an ideological tool theology of salvation, aspired to establish in this world of a theocracy, the secular statist utilitarianism, using medical dogmatism, has succeeded in imposing modern what Thomas Szasz calls a 'therapeutic state'. (...) From the point of view ethical-if only the central dogma terminologically-therapeutic state is that it is bad since it goes against the health and well as the favors. "

Thus, and according to Thomas Szasz, Savater called to distinguish between doing something for someone and do something to someone, commonly presented as interventions for the sake of someone you are handling about it. "The only form of resistance to this claim is misleading: do nothing for my well without my prior request." So, one wonders, for example, what right does the IMM to fine those who choose to drive without a seatbelt or a motorcycle without wearing a helmet alone, when life is endangering itself. With the same approach should be fine any risky behavior to one's health, paratroopers and skaters chase, apply severe penalties to distracted, go after the fat, sedentary, the mere insomniac.

In August 2003, the musician Brian Eno, wrote an article in 'The Observer' in the wake of the book "Weapons of Mass Deception by Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber. It referred to the changes in the forms of government control of citizens:

"When I visited Russia in 1986, I made friends with a musician whose father had been the personal doctor of Brezhnev. One day we were talking about life during 'the period of stagnation 'of Brezhnev-era. 'It must have been strange to live completely immersed in propaganda,' I said. 'Ah, but therein lies the difference. We knew it was propaganda, 'replied Sacha. That's the difference. Soviet propaganda was so obvious that most Russians did not pay attention. They assumed that the government acted in its own interests and any message that came from it came biased, so do not take into account. (...)"

Eno notes that social control has become more sophisticated and insidious, so that deserves a new name.

Perhaps this is because the plethora of biographies of the President in bookstores, in the light of recent presidential initiatives any political analyst would be tempted to check your oracle.

Unfortunately, redefining the concept of health, stimulate debate, educate, so that as citizens we are free to choose not appear to be responsible in the government's immediate agenda. The randomness of that agenda would be nothing more than anecdotal if there was a constant that unites each of the items listed: the unilateral imposition of an idea that is presented as indisputable. In the case of regulation against snuff (even accepting that public health is reduced to the clean air we are forced to breathe) and assuming some consistency in the presidential concerns, after 15 years in government, should have appeared an army of inspectors to monitor were met with the maximum permitted gas emissions and monitoring system should not be alone in the streets, but included in the "today" and merely useless deadweight Computest as if something that "smoke" in Uruguay and that affects people without distinction and without choice, are motor vehicles, especially buses and taxis, under direct supervision (and grant) municipal. Just go to a village fair and take a look at the fleet of trucks with Computest approved until 2008, to suffer an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

Brian Eno's article ended: "When I was young, an eccentric uncle decided to teach me how to lie. As he explained, was not because they wanted me to lie, but because he thought I should know how to recognize when they were lying to me. I hope that writers such as Rampton and Stauber and others may have the same effect and help to remove culture of lies and deceit that is being done to our political regimes. "

The triumph of the left is mostly , the culmination of a process of citizenship learning to recognize when you were lying or manipulating. Do not pretend to forget it now.

Postscript UK

A few hours after writing the post, I found a November 2004 edition of the very liberal "The Economist" whose lead article entitled "No smoking, hunting, sugar, salt, fat ... " and deals with the new government bans Tony Blair. The article begins:

"Enjoying yourself? Well, you'd Better stop then. This week is Banning week in Britain."

On the issue of health (ya que la prohibición de cazar es solo respecto a la salud de los zorros) el argumento es similar al del post de más arriba:

"The question of just how much should be done reaches right down into the principles underpinning liberal democracy. According to those principles, the government is entitled to interfere with people's behaviour only in so far as it affects other people. Otherwise, well-informed individuals should be allowed to make their own choices. If they want to harm themselves, that's up to them.
That's why the government has tried to sell the smoking ban in the way it has. Passive smoking, it argues, kills other people. Yet the numbers involved are tiny..."

Pero, as the title of the article indicates (by including fox hunting), "The Economist" suspicion that what the Labour government seeks to erase the boundaries of class in Britain. While prohibited from leaving the country rich to practice their favorite sport aristocratic, try, through regulations, improve quality of life of the poorer classes, which concentrates the highest percentage of smokers and addicted to junk food: life expectancy of a British upper class is 7.4 years longer than in a lower class, 42% of unskilled workers smoke, versus 15% professionals, 28% of lower-class women are obese, versus 14% of the upper class and so does children, who eat 50% less fruit and vegetables in the lower classes.

I think it is good that the democrats intend to change the numbers a bit, perhaps as the government tries to do Vázquez.
The question is whether this change in living conditions are to live a miserable life but longer or you will be accompanied by other changes. Many argue that the episode of the statue of Pope is that Vázquez's government expects to receive help from the Catholic Church to support the Emergency Plan. Last there is not much difference between bowing to the IMF to do Wojtyla before, although some prefer to pay with money than with ideological concessions.
